The Best Crunchbase Alternative for Fundraising: InvestorLists.vc vs Crunchbase (2026)

Crunchbase is superb for research. InvestorLists.vc is the verified contact layer you own. How the two compare on contact data, exports and cost for a fundraising founder.

Pricing and features below were checked in July 2026 against Crunchbase's published pages. Their offering changes over time, so see crunchbase.com for current details.

Founders ask us about Crunchbase more than about any other tool, and the honest answer is that the comparison is mostly a misunderstanding. Crunchbase and InvestorLists.vc do different jobs. This page explains what each does best, so you can decide what your raise actually needs.

What Crunchbase does brilliantly

Crunchbase is one of the best company-research platforms ever built. It tracks millions of company profiles, indexes new funding rounds remarkably fast, and its investor discovery filters (stage, location, investor type, activity) are excellent for building a first map of who invests in your space. If you want to know who led a round, what a firm has funded lately, or which investors are active in your category, Crunchbase is a superb place to research. Many of our own customers use it alongside our database, and that combination works well.

Where the jobs differ

Crunchbase is a subscription research platform. InvestorLists.vc is a one-time data purchase: a complete Excel file of active US VC firms with named decision-makers and verified personal work emails, delivered whole, owned outright.

The practical differences for a fundraising founder, as of July 2026:

Contact data. On Crunchbase, contact data is available on the Business tier as a metered add-on: 10 free contacts per month, with packages of 100 for $29/mo, 250 for $59/mo or 500 for $99/mo, unlocked 10 at a time (source: Crunchbase help center, "How do I get contact data"). Crunchbase also states in its documentation that it "is not ultimately responsible or liable for the accuracy of contact information" (source: Crunchbase help center, Contact Level Data). That is a reasonable disclaimer for a contact layer scored by machine-learning confidence models at their scale, and it tells a founder the right thing to do: treat those contacts as leads to confirm rather than a send-ready list.

Our model is different by design: every email in our file passed SMTP verification with catch-all domains excluded and a second pass with an independent tool, before you ever see it, and we publish the full methodology.

Export policy. Crunchbase Pro allows roughly 2,000 export rows per month (1,000 per export) and Business 5,000 per month, with contact exports limited to unlocked contacts (source: Crunchbase help center, Export to CSV). Subscription platforms meter exports because the subscription is the product, and that makes sense for their model. With us the file itself is the product: one payment, the entire database in Excel, every row exportable, usable in any CRM.

Cost shape. Crunchbase Pro is $49/user/month when billed annually ($588/year) or $99/month on the month-to-month plan, and Business runs around $199/user/month billed annually, before contact packages (source: crunchbase.com pricing and published tier comparisons). A founder who runs Business with a mid-tier contact package for a full 12 months would spend roughly $2,400 to $3,600 at the published rates above; shorter subscriptions cost proportionally less. InvestorLists.vc is $497 once, and the file is still yours after the raise ends.

Choose Crunchbase if...

You need ongoing market intelligence: funding news, competitor tracking, discovery across millions of companies, and continuously updated firm profiles. It is the strongest product in that lane at founder-accessible prices.

The bottom line for a founder raising now

Research with Crunchbase, reach out with InvestorLists.vc, and the two together cover the whole funnel. If you only have budget for one and you are mid-raise, the contact layer is usually the binding constraint, and that is exactly what our file is: every active US VC firm with a named decision-maker and an SMTP-verified personal email, $497 once, owned outright. See the database and read the full verification methodology.
