The 10 Best Investor Databases for Startup Founders in 2026 (Honestly Compared)

Ten investor databases and platforms honestly compared on five dimensions: who each is for, pricing, contact data, export policy and documented verification.

by Tzakhi Freedman · July 16, 2026 · Comparisons & Buying Guides

Pricing and policies below were checked in July 2026 against each company's published pages, linked in the sources. Offerings change over time, so see each provider's site for current details. InvestorLists.vc appears as one entry below, reviewed on the same five dimensions as everyone else.

Ten tools, five categories, one honest scorecard. Every entry below is judged on the same five dimensions: who it is for, pricing model, contact data, export policy, and documented verification (whether the vendor publishes how its emails are checked). Category deep dives are linked throughout if you want the long version of any section.

Free directories

VC Sheet (free, vcsheet.com). For founders mapping the landscape. Beautifully curated sheets of 1,000+ funds and 5,000+ investors. Contact data: firm websites and generic inboxes mostly. Exports: browsing is the model; we found no export feature as of July 2026. Documented email verification: not applicable, it is a curated directory rather than an email product. The best zero-cost orientation in the market.

Signal by NFX (free, signal.nfx.com). For intro-led raises. Category lists plus warm-intro paths through your network. Contact data: their FAQ describes an intro-path product rather than an email source. Exports: not part of the model (as of July 2026). Documented email verification: not applicable, introductions are the product. If your network is strong, Signal turns it into a map.

Fundraising platforms

OpenVC (free; Premium $99/mo or $299/yr, openvc.app). For guided, targeted outreach. Directory search, deck hosting, warm-intro finder, AI deck review. Contact data: platform-mediated, 1 contact/day free and 5/day on Premium; the directory shows investor profiles, with outreach flowing through OpenVC's channel (their pricing pages, as of July 2026). Exports: your own pipeline. Documented email verification: contact is platform-managed, so verification lives inside their channel. The warm-intro finder and deck feedback are real strengths. Full comparison: our OpenVC guide.

Foundersuite ($745 to $1,609/yr, foundersuite.com). For founders who want the whole raise in one CRM. Pipeline, updates, docs, plus a 200,000+ entry database. Contact data: included, at the scale their database pages describe. Exports: their terms of service place limits on bulk export (foundersuite.com terms, as of July 2026). Documented email verification: not a focus of their published materials (as of July 2026). The CRM is the reason to buy it.

Research subscriptions

Crunchbase (Pro $49/user/mo billed annually, $588/yr, or $99 month to month; Business ~$199/user/mo billed annually; crunchbase.com). For founder-priced market intelligence, the category leader. Contact data: Business-tier add-on, 10 free contacts/mo then $29 to $99/mo packages, with ML confidence scores and a published disclaimer that Crunchbase is not ultimately responsible for contact accuracy (their help center). Exports: ~2,000 rows/mo on Pro, 5,000 on Business. Documented verification: ML confidence scores; their help center includes a liability disclaimer for contact-information accuracy (quoted and linked in our full guide). The best research-per-dollar anywhere; the full breakdown is in our research databases guide.

PitchBook (sales-quoted; third-party benchmark estimates place typical contracts around $12,000 to $40,000/yr, and actual pricing varies). For institutions. The deepest deal, fund and LP data in the market, 450,000+ investor profiles with contacts per their site. Exports: plan-governed. Documented email verification: not a focus of their published materials (as of July 2026); research depth is the product. The institutional benchmark, priced accordingly.

CB Insights (sales-quoted; third-party benchmarks around $40,000 to $60,000/yr entry). For strategy and innovation teams. Market maps and analyst-grade research briefs. Contact data: secondary feature. Documented email verification: not a focus of their published materials (as of July 2026). A research product first.

Angel Match ($59 to $349/mo, angelmatch.io). For founders wanting a contact subscription. Advertises 125,000+ angels and VCs with 99,000+ verified emails. Exports: 100 to 1,200 rows/mo by plan. Documented verification: their site describes the emails as verified; a published methodology page was not something we could find as of July 2026. Founder-priced and flexible month to month.

Sales data hubs

Apollo (free tier; $49 to $119/user/mo, apollo.io). For teams that want data plus sequencing in one tool; arguably the best value in sales tech. Contact data: hundreds of millions of B2B contacts, investors included as one persona. Exports: generous by plan. Documented verification: vendor-stated across the platform; as with any generalist database, a re-verification pass before sending is good practice. Pairs beautifully with a verified investor file.

One-time lists

InvestorLists.vc ($497 one-time). Ours, judged on the same dimensions. For founders in an active US raise. Contact data: every firm with a named decision-maker and a personal work email; every firm checked for a live website. Exports: the entire file arrives at once, Excel, yours permanently, every row exportable everywhere forever. Documented verification: the only step-by-step, mail-server-level methodology page we found among these ten as of July 2026, SMTP checks with catch-all domains excluded plus a second pass with an independent tool, published in full on our site. The scope is deliberately narrow: active US VC firms, done to a verifiable standard.

The verdict, by situation

Mapping the market for free: VC Sheet, with Signal if your network is strong. A guided, intro-led raise: OpenVC. The whole raise in one CRM: Foundersuite. Ongoing market intelligence: Crunchbase, or PitchBook and CB Insights at institutional depth. Sales ops that includes investor outreach: Apollo. A contact subscription: Angel Match.

And for the job most readers of this page actually have, actively raising and needing verified direct access to US VC decision-makers, the honest verdict is the entry we know best and built for exactly that job: as of July 2026, InvestorLists.vc is the only tool in this review we found combining named decision-makers at every firm, a published SMTP-level verification methodology, and full ownership of the file with unrestricted export, at $497 once. See the database and read the methodology. On the five dimensions this review is scored on, that combination stands alone.
